A 2026 Canadian Medical Association Journal environmental scan and interoperability maturity assessment of electronic health records across Canada — the same scan cited elsewhere in this series for its jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction vendor inventory — contains no reference to OpenMRS, Bahmni, or openEHR in its discussion of platforms in use or under evaluation across Canadian provinces and territories. This absence, alongside searches of provincial auditor-general reports, is the basis for this paper’s statement that no known Canadian precedent exists for any of the three platforms. An absence of evidence in one environmental scan is not proof that no informal evaluation has ever occurred anywhere in Canada, and that distinction is worth preserving if challenged.
