Canada Health Infoway maintains three interlocking specifications relevant to this series: CA Core+, the pan-Canadian core FHIR profile set; PS-CA, the pan-Canadian Patient Summary interoperability specification; and CA:FeX, the pan-Canadian FHIR Exchange specification. All three are active and under ongoing revision, with new releases tracked publicly on InfoCentral, and all three are tested annually at Infoway’s national Projectathon involving health ministries, provincial agencies, and vendors. This is the primary source for this paper’s claim that the interoperability standards a Canadian CIS would need to speak already exist and are actively maintained — the open question is which software speaks them natively, not whether the standards themselves exist.
